It also includes several new chapters and a host of new information and details on each cabin, house and station from the hunting period, the peoples who have used them, and the work done over the past 25 years to preserve historic buildings. . In addition, it has received a revised register containing more than 2,500 reference words with references to cabins, people, places, vessels, expeditions, animal species and much more. All of this has led to the subtitle being changed to: "Fangstmandsperioden - og dens spor i dag".

The book's starting point

In the early 1900s, Northeast Greenland had a scattered population of very special casting: Danish and Norwegian hunters, who settled on the coast many miles to the nearest neighbor. They brought supplies for a couple of years as well as a good deal of courage and endurance. The purpose was to collect fox and polar bear skins that could be sold in Europe and secure the future at home. Often it took years to stay in Northeast Greenland. The book tells the story of the stations where hunters, scientists, and sledge patrols wintered, and gives an impression of the many personalities that drew on life. The book is based on decades of research in the archives, the hunters and in North-East Greenland.
